Jost Van Dyke, British Virgin Islands was the site of our "surprise" honeymoon. David did not tell me until we were on the plane. It was a great surprise and a wonderful honeymoon. Very exotic and tropical. Definitely not for the non-adventurer. In a short re-cap: We snorkeled and hiked everyday. It was hot! and very rugged. The view from our rented house was gorgeous. Tacked upon a cliff above the ocean you could see the islands of Tortola, St. Johns and St. Thomas. We had the beach to ourselves because it was the end of hurricane season. We found a small local beach bar within walking distance where we made our drinks on an honor system. Ivan's Stress Free Bar is also known to be the secret celebrity hang out. We apparently just missed Kenny Chesney on his regular visit. The name of his newest album is "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem" was taken from the seashell sign on Ivan's bar. His #1 hit video was also filmed on Jost in case you were wondering! Due to the fact that there were several hurricanes this year, there were also lots of mosquitoes! We were not prepared with enough bug spray to fight off the bites, but we survived anyway. We traveled to the island of Virgin Gorda on our day long snorkel tour. We hiked through the "Baths" and snorkeled around the rocks to see the most beautiful fish around. We also visited the supposed location of Treasure Island where we snorkeled through the caves and fed hundreds of fish. Dave was chased by a barracuda... After that we stopped by local hot spot "Willie T's" swim up pirate ship bar, where if you jump off naked you get a free T-shirt.... (We didn't do that). We hiked to a place called the "Bubbly Pool" where the ocean crashes through rocks to a hidden pool and creates a whirlpool like effect. It wasn't as active as we've heard. But it was still beautiful. All in all it was a wonderful vacation with a beautiful white sand beach that we will never forget. If you ever get the chance to make it to Jost, look up Ivan's Stress Free Bar and tell them Dave and Kelley sent you!
